On the night of September 23 to 24, 2023, a new incident occurred at the Basse-Terre remand center, where around ten package<\/strong> were dropped by drone<\/strong>. On the night of September 23 to 24, 2023, a drone dropped several packages at the Basse-Terre remand center, causing concern and anger from the UFAP UNSa Justice union. The latest incident occurred around 2:25 a.m., with the intrusion of a drone carrying around ten packages intended for detainees. This type of incident is unfortunately becoming recurrent, and the prison guards must face a growing technological threat. Packages often contain prohibited items such as cell phones, drugs or other illegal substances.<\/p>\n\n\n

Following this event, UFAP UNSa Justice immediately reiterated its request for the implementation of specific protection measures. The union demands the installation of protective fences<\/strong> on all the promenades of the new Basse-Terre Prison as well as efficient anti-drone devices to prevent future illegal deliveries.<\/p>\n\n\n

Union representatives expressed frustration with a situation that directly jeopardizes the safety of corrections officers and inmates.
